radar monitoring

radar monitoring
The use of radar for the purpose of providing aircraft with information and advice relative to significant deviation from nominal flight path (ICAO). The radar controller observes and notes the deviation from the authorized flight path, route, or airway by the aircraft and advises the pilot. When applied specifically to the radar monitoring of instrument approaches [i.e., with precision approach radar (PAR) or radar monitoring of simultaneous instrument landing system/microwave landing system (ILS/MLS) approaches], it includes advice and instructions whenever aircraft nears or exceeds the prescribed PAR facility limits or simultaneous ILS/MLS no-transgression zone.
